Good luck to our future E-BOARD!
I want to take a couple of moments and give some parting thoughts to the membership as I finish my term as President of the Emerald Society. I have enjoyed representing the membership at a variety of functions not only this past two years, but also in the preceding six that I have been a board member. The organization has made some great strides, and had some fun along the way. On the National level we were able to get a seat on the NCLEES board. Mike Roe has jumped in with both feet and was very instrumental in organizing the march during police week.
Our membership has been relatively stable. We have welcomed about a dozen new members so far this year. We are still looking for ways to generate excitement amongst the membership, especially the members who work for the SLMPD. Don’t hesitate in sending your suggestions to the E-Board.
We’ve tried some things that have worked well; the trivia night, family picnic and pot o’gold, sweat shirts, t-shirts and windbreakers. We’ve also done a few things that haven’t worked out so well…..but we learn from our mistakes! We have to take a long and hard look at our by-laws and tweak them where necessary.
I will be remaining active in the organization as the Immediate Past President. I will offer our new President my support and assistance in anyway that I can. I want to thank those who served on my board for the past two years; Mike Roe, John Walsh, Andy Eagan, Tim McDonough, Jennifer Roybal, Louie Bouwman and John Mullen…..Thanks from the bottom of my heart. Very special thanks to Tim McDonough for all the work that he has done with the books, and John Mullen, who served the board so well.
God Bless All!! Joe Eagan
